Yesterday, the England women’s boxing team, accompanied by their coaches, paid a visit to King’s College India. They were met at the school entrance by the Headmaster of KCI Mr Brendan Canavan and his wife who warmly greeted them with a traditional Tikka ceremony. After chatting with some of the staff and students over some snacks and drinks the English Team accompanied the whole school body in witnessing a presentation of Rajasthani Katputli dance performed by a puppet company.
The athletes and the children laughed along together before a fitness session was laid on for a group of select KCI children to join with the women’s boxing team in the excellent sports grounds. What a wonderful experience our students had when they experienced the highly trained athletes putting them through their paces. Tough as it was for some of our students, they did KCI proud and showed great strength of character in their determination to keep up with the female boxers. The coaches from the England team were most complementary about our students and the women’s team were very grateful for the opportunity to have such a comprehensive work-out in the extensive sports grounds of KCI.
To round off the day, the whole England Women’s Boxing Team were invited to a special evening dinner given in their honour at the KCI dining hall. All in all, a great day was had by all.
